What We

The National Migrant Workers Union of Kerala is a registered trade union working for the rights, welfare, safety, and dignity of migrant workers living and working across Kerala. We represent construction workers, hotel staff, factory workers, delivery workers, housekeeping staff, and employees from various sectors who have come from different states in search of better opportunities. Our union stands with workers in addressing labour issues, workplace challenges, legal support, welfare assistance, and social security while promoting unity, equality, and respect for every worker.

Our Mission

The National Migrant Workers Union of Kerala is committed to protecting the rights, welfare, dignity, and social security of migrant workers across Kerala. As a registered trade union under the Trade Unions Act, we work to organize and empower workers from different states who are employed in construction, hospitality, manufacturing, delivery services, and other labour sectors. We believe every worker deserves fair wages, safe working conditions, legal protection, equality, and respect in the workplace.

Our union is affiliated with AITUC – All India Trade Union Congress, one of India’s oldest and largest trade union movements. Through collective action, awareness programmes, worker support initiatives, and labour rights campaigns, we strive to build unity among migrant workers and create a stronger, more just working environment in Kerala.

General Secretary’s Voice

Kerala has become a workplace and second home for thousands of migrant workers who contribute immensely to the development and growth of our society. From construction sites and hotels to factories, shops, transportation, and service sectors, migrant workers play a vital role in building Kerala’s economy. Yet many workers continue to face challenges such as low wages, unsafe working conditions, lack of legal awareness, social insecurity, and discrimination.

As a trade union, our mission is to stand with every migrant worker and ensure dignity, protection, unity, and justice in the workplace and society. We believe migrant workers are not outsiders — they are workers who help build Kerala every day through their hard work and dedication. Through collective organization, welfare activities, legal support, awareness programmes, and solidarity, we aim to create a safer and more respectful environment for all workers.

Our Services

Legal Support

We help migrant workers address workplace issues including unpaid salaries, unfair dismissal, labour exploitation, workplace harassment, and other employment-related disputes. Our union provides guidance and support in approaching labour departments and legal authorities when necessary.

Emergency Assistance

We stand with workers during emergencies by coordinating immediate support for workplace accidents, medical emergencies, police matters, and crisis situations. Our team works to ensure workers receive timely assistance and protection.

Welfare Support

The union actively supports migrant workers through welfare initiatives including food assistance, accommodation guidance, emergency relief support, and community welfare programmes for workers and their families.

Documentation & Registration Help

We assist workers with labour-related documentation, identity support, worker registration guidance, insurance awareness, and access to government welfare schemes and benefits available for migrant labourers in Kerala.

Labour Rights Awareness Programmes

We organize awareness classes, workshops, and training programmes to educate workers about labour laws, workplace rights, occupational safety, health awareness, and social security benefits.

Language & Communication Support

To help workers from different states adapt comfortably in Kerala, we provide communication assistance, local guidance, and support in overcoming language barriers during workplace and official interactions.

Worker Unity & Organization

We encourage unity among migrant workers across Kerala by building collective strength, promoting solidarity, and creating a platform where workers can raise their voices and protect their rights together.

Workplace Safety Support

We promote safe working environments by educating workers about workplace safety measures, accident prevention, protective equipment, and emergency response practices across different sectors.
